Collecting proverbs and quotes is one of my hobbies. They are now stores in a database so that I can easily show them on web pages.
My largest collections are on insects and fruits, but as you will see I have several other collections.
Insects and spiders
My largest collection is the one with proverbs and quotes about insects and spiders.
Here is an example:
Like a moth in clothing, or a maggot in wood, sorrow gnaws at the human heart.
Spiders
This is a smaller collection of proverbs with only spiders. For example:
When spiders unite, they can tie down a lion.
Fruits
A large collection of proverbs and quotes on fruits. For example:
I have always found that mercy bears richer fruits than strict justice. (Abraham Lincoln)

Sherlock Holmes
Reading Sherlock Holmes you will discover some gems to be quoted. For example:
To a great mind, nothing is little.
The Hobbit
I read The Hobbit several times and noted down some phrases and quotes that I liked best. For example about Elrond:
He was as noble and fair in face as an elf-lord, as strong as a warrior, as wise as a wizard, as venerable as a king of dwarves, and as kind as summer.
Honey and bees
On my website about mead (honey wine) I have a small collection of proverbs and quotes about honey and bees. For example:
It's easier to catch flies with honey than with vinegar.
Search Proverbs and Quotes
When my collection of proverbs and quotes (insects, spiders, fruits, etc.) became too big I started collecting them in a database, which by now has grown to be a large collection of proverbs and quotes. Click here to search proverbs and quotes in this database.
Come back soon for my new collection of quotes about axes. Here is a preview:
Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms.
QuoteProverbs
Recently I started separate websites for proverbs and quotes in English and Dutch.
