My familie name is Bijlmakers, which means Axe maker. I expect that in the past my family has been making axes, but I have no idea how long ago this could have been. The oldest “Axemaker” in my family tree is Joost BIJLMECKERS who lived around the year 1600. But probably my family name originated in the stone age.
